You, Me, And The Sea! by Jen Davis

You, Me, And The Sea! by Jen Davis
Hello dear friends! Jen Davis here...I'm so happy to be on the blog today sharing a layout using items from the oh so very beautiful Simple Vintage Coastal collection! I love it when patterned papers and/or embellishments inspire me to create. This collection did just that and specifically, inspired me to look for some older vacation photos to print and use for this layout that I'm sharing here today. It was so fun looking back at old vacation photos on my computer that now I'm thinking that I really need to put together a mini-book using the Simple Vintage Coastal collection for the whole of this particular vacation, so stay tuned! In the meantime however I'm happy to share some tips on how to put this page together featuring my daughter's delight at discovering shells, starfish, and sponges at the sponge docks in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

I pulled some of the word phrase stickers from the Foam Stickers to use as my title and layered it right on top of my photos. One thing that I love about the foam stickers is that they come backed on clear acetate which means I can move the stickers around on my page and see exactly how they will look before committing to sticking them down. Yay! You'll notice that I have two color photos and one black and white photo on this layout. The colors of the color photos went perfectly with this collection so I opted to leave them alone, I wanted to share the photo of my daughter too but the dress that she was wearing in the photo clashed with the color scheme of my page...switching the photo to black and white was an easy fix to make it work!

I knew that I wanted to add several of the shell and starfish icons/die-cuts on my page. To create a "home" for all of these elements on my page I created a border of sorts by tearing some patterned paper, adding some machine stitching along the edge and then popping my die-cuts up along the border using three dimensional adhesive.

I added some more of the foam stickers and some of the decorative brads as well.

My final step to complete my layout was to write my journaling. I tend to use my computer for this part and will print and then cut my journaling into strips to adhere to the page.

I'd love to see layouts that you've created using the Simple Vintage collection! Please be sure to tag your projects on social media with #simplestories_ so that we can find them!

Wishing you a creative day!
