Valentine's Day Cards

Valentine's Day Cards
Hello everyone! Tya here (@tyasmith3) - I am so happy to be able to share more of my handmade card creations with you! This time up I was able to work with one of the new Simple Sets kits – I am using the “Valentine’s Day” one since we are quickly approaching that holiday! Valentine’s Day and card-making go hand in hand in my book, so I came up with this new set that hopefully you will love!
The Simple Sets are great for all of your grab-and-go projects. With 3 papers and one sticker sheet, it’s a great value! Just grab a kit, and some Color Vibe cardstock and you’re good to go!  One of my favorite papers to use as a card maker is the Elements papers –which are full of cut aparts. I challenged myself to use up all the cut aparts on this paper and create cards with them so that is just what I did!
Let me show you each of my cards and then I’ll let you know where I used each of the cut apart cards!
My first card features 2 of the cut aparts. The bottom layer of this card, the white paper with the cream hearts, is the bottom portion of the “Be Mine” 4x6 card. I trimmed off just under the sentiment and then used the pattern paper on this card. The cute pink paper is actually the 3x4 cut-apart card with the cupid on it. I die-cut this into a circle shape and then layered some stickers on top of the cupid icon on the card. Don’t be afraid to cover up or add stickers to the preprinted card. I knew I wanted to keep the “Hit me with your Best Shot” sentiment, but wanted a little bit bigger Cupid so I changed it up a bit!
The next card uses the 3x4 mailbox cut-apart card. I added the card to a postage stamp-edged rectangle die and then added some cute and coordinating stickers to this card. That big, bold “Valentine” sticker looks great along the bottom!
This card was super fun to create! I made a little easy easel fun fold card featuring the yummy-looking chocolates in the collection. I trimmed down the 4x4 chocolates cut apart and made it more into a 3x4 shape as you can see on the front panel of the card. The cute row of chocolates along the bottom of the flat part of the card is stickers and they look de-licious!
This next card features 2 of the cut aparts. I used the “Valentine's Day” 3x4 card trimmed it down and made a pocket out of it.  I used a circle punch and made a small notch so you can pull the goodies in the pocket out easier The “I love you because” card is also one of the 3x4 cut aparts that I trimmed down so it would fit into the pocket.  I added a label sticker to the top and it created a tag-like look which I thought was super fun. I love adding lots of texture on my cards as you can see here with my lace edge ribbon and some twine on the tags.
This next card also features 2 of the cut aparts. I took the 4x6 “Love, Love, Love” cut apart and trimmed it down to fit my card base. I notched the top corners, punched a hole in the top, and made this cut apart into a tag. Super easy and fun! The second cut-apart I used is the other part of the “Be Mine” 4x6 cut-apart.  I flipped it over to the “B” side of the paper and used the cute florals on the other side. Don’t be afraid to use that cute pattern paper on the other side!
My next card is a pretty straightforward one. I used the 4x4 “XOXO” cut-apart card as the focal point of my card. I cut it down just a little bit with a stitched square die. I layered it up with some stickers and this cute pink and white tulle that I had in my stash!
After making all of these cards,  I had just the 4x4 cut-apart card left. It was the one with (4) 2x2 cut aparts on it. Well, who says cards have to be big all of the time?  I made  3 cute mini cards that would be perfect to add to a little box of chocolates or to some flowers. I cut 2 of the squares out and then left the other 2 squares attached. My mini card bases are about 2 ¾  x 2 ¾ inches.
On my first mini card, I used the envelope cut apart.  I made a little envelope from some of the pattern paper scraps I had left and then layered the card up with some stickers and other decorations.
On this card, I used the two cut-apart cards that are still attached. I folded the cards in half and left this card with the candy on it as a little mini fold-up card! I added more stickers and buttons to decorate this one up!
My last little card uses the “Feb 14” cut-apart square. A small heart doily from my stash is tucked behind and then some twine and wood hearts add the perfect amount of texture to this little card!
What fun I had using up all of those cut-aparts! I hope I have inspired you to grab one of the Simple Sets and make some cards! In one afternoon you can make lots of cards just in time for all your sweethearts! Thank you so much for stopping by! We will see you next time! Happy Crafting!
