Hello crafty friends! It’s Cheryl here on the blog today showing you this fun set of cards using the new Happy Travels collection! I was inspired by all of the beautiful icons and soft colours of this collection and of course all of the florals :)
I love creating a matching set of cards & a gift box/holder. Wouldn’t this be such a lovely gift for someone? These cards could be for anyone and not just creative people in your life!
I first started with 5 basic white card bases that keep getting smaller towards the front. You can totally measure them and make them a quarter of an inch smaller on each side, but I just cut them down randomly.
For my card holder I used the biggest card for size reference and made my holder a tiny bit bigger, so all five embellished cards fit. It’s a very simple box, but I cut down the front panel, so the cards peek out and you can catch a glimpse of all the fun stickers and papers of the collection. For a more finished look I cut the sides at an angle.
Instead of patterned paper I used acetate for the front panel for an even bigger sneak peek!! I lined my holder with Blush Color Vibe cardstock and a beautiful floral-patterned paper from the collection kit and of course added machine stitching for a little bit more texture.
I also used the Blush Color Vibe cardstock throughout my cards for a more cohesive look.
Now it’s my favourite part: embellishing! All of the cards look different and I didn’t go with one specific style - I just love the variety! I used a mix of bits & pieces, tags, chipboard and foam stickers and enamel dots on all of my cards.
I had so much fun creating with Happy Travels - it makes me want to book a flight!!! I hope this inspires you to create a card set to gift to one of your friends!
