Hey everyone! This is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) and here is a new layout for Simple Stories using the totally adorable Pet Shoppe Collection! There are three Pet Shoppe collections, the one I’m using features small pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, lizards etc. There are two other Pet Shoppe collections too: Pet Shoppe Cat and Pet Shoppe Dog.
Our family actually doesn’t have any pets which is something my children would love to change! To compensate for this, we regularly visit our local farm which offers a small animal petting experience, where we spend a fun hour playing with the rabbits and guinea pigs. They also have a rescue chicken who comes to play. It takes place next to the llama enclosure, so we get to pet the llamas too. It is always fun, and it is a really good way for the children to interact with animals!
For this layout I decided to feature some of the bright fun patterns from the Pet Shoppe collection. I couldn’t choose between them as I love them all so much, so I decided to feature small strips of them all. I cut strips in various sizes and arranged them vertically. I machine stitched them in place and curled up the ends to give extra texture and dimension.
I arranged three photos horizontally across the strips which I mounted first on journaling cards. I then had lots of fun adding embellishments. These photos featured rabbits so I set about picking out all the rabbit embellishments I could find. The rabbits in this collection are just so cute and adorable! I used three from the Foam Stickers and one from the Bits & Pieces.
I added stickers from the Cardstock Stickers and more Bits & Pieces. My title is from the Foam Stickers and I also added Decorative Brads. I finished off by handwriting my journaling and adding splatters of white paint.
For my second layout using the Pet Shoppe collection I focused on the spotty paper which I cut at an angle and placed onto my white background. I layered this with the yellow striped paper. I always enjoy using patterned papers on my layouts, but this can sometimes be tricky especially is the paper is very busy. I usually combat this problem by pairing the pattern with some white space, which is what I have done here!
I chose to use one photo of my little boy with the guinea pigs which I mounted and placed across the paper layers. I balanced it out with a guinea pig journaling card ‘it’s guinea be a great day’ and other journaling layers too.
I’ve used a title from the Foam Stickers ‘life is better with you, and I added lots of super cute guinea pig embellishments. I also added other animals, I tucked these into the paper layers, I love how they look like they are peeking out!
I then embellished the spotty paper. I doodled some circles around some of the spots, I added Decorative Brads to some, enamel dots to others and I also added raised heart stickers to some too. This just added an extra level of details and dimension to this side of the layout, and it was fun to do!
I finished off with my journaling and splatters of white paint. I really had so much fun creating with the Pet Shoppe collection! I hope you enjoyed seeing my layouts. Here is the process video link for the second layout:
