We're so excited to welcome Gloria Parra to our 2023 design team. We can't wait to share her work with you. Before we jump into that, we want you to get to know Gloria a little better.

Bio:

Hello, my name is Gloria Parra and I’m from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, a very tropical and sunny city in South America. I have two daughters, Leticia who is 7 and loves scrapbooking by my side and my baby Catalina who is 3 years old. I have been scrapbooking for almost 17 years now, it all started after a vacation in Hawaii when I entered a Michaels store and discovered the scrapbooking isle, I got hooked and never looked back! From this passion I decided 9 years ago to open my own arts and craft store (with a couple scrapbooking isles) here in Bolivia, it is called Nube de Papel which means Paper Cloud. My passion is documenting my girls and our beautiful life one memory at a time on 12x12 layouts; we love looking through our albums and remembering all the wonderful moments together.

3 Facts:

1. I have a mayor in psychology, I love my career and try to apply it in my daily life and in art therapy whenever I can, but my creative side won, and my life took a different path career-wise.

Another passion of mine is planning and decorating for birthday parties, baby showers, etc. I had a creative event planning small business before opening my arts and crafts store. I love planning my daughter’s birthday parties and will find any excuse (valentines, carnival, easter, thanksgiving, etc.) to put together a party and decorate for it, LOL!

I’m a very early riser. I wake up at 5am, get my coffee done, light up a candle and get to scrapbooking, until my girls wake up and I need to get them ready for school and daycare. This is my me time, I like planning my day and working on my layouts when the house is quiet and everyone’s sleeping; this is my therapy!

Hello Simple Stories friends!

This is Gloria Parra (@gloriascraps ) here and this is my first project for the 2023 Simple Stories Design Team. I still can’t believe it; it is a dream come true to be part of this amazing team.

The new Wildflower collection is a collaboration between Simple Stories and My Mind's Eye. This collection is stunning my friends! Having two little girls and loving soft colors, made this collection one of my all-time favorites!

This collection is filled with gorgeous florals, butterflies, birds and numbers that are perfect to show growth and passage of time. It is a real treat to work with such beautiful elements, it makes putting together a layout so easy!

I have to confess that I am a huge fan of the chipboard frames, it is the first element I gravitate towards when I start creating. Simple Stories always knocks it out of the park with their gorgeous chipboard frames, they are a must have!

When I opened this collection and started thinking of all the possibilities, the first thing that jumped at me were all the circular elements included in this collection. So, I decided to use the circular chipboard frame as the focal point in my layout and added mostly circular elements in a diagonal line across my page. This gives my layout a very organic feel and gave me the chance to play with all those beautiful, rounded stickers, gorgeous patterned papers, beautiful brads, etc.

I loved searching for rounded elements throughout the collection. You can find all the circles inside the sticker book, in the cardstock sticker sheet as well as in the ephemera packs.

When I finished creating my diagonal circle line, I felt the layout was feeling a little empty. So, I decided to create an embellishment cluster at the top left corner of my layout. I used a tag with some twine attached, a gorgeous floral from the die cut pack and a beautiful brad to keep the circular idea going at the top as well.

I finished my layout with some sprinkles of two different tones of spray mist, following the diagonal line of my shaped elements. I also added some stitching around the beautiful warm white color vibe cardstock that I used as the background of my layout. Finally, I used one of the foam sticker word as my title.

Thank you very much for stopping by today and checking out my project. I really hope that you liked my layout and feel inspired to create with this gorgeous collection.
