Hello Simple Stories friends! It’s Cheryl on the blog today with another fun idea on how you can use the new Color Vibe collection.
Last month I shared a very pink mini album using the Boho Color Vibe collection and today we’re jumping to the opposite colours: Darks! I can’t tell you how beautiful the Eggplant paper is in real life - such a beautiful and unique colour.
I wanted a little bit of contrast on my mini album and decided to add white elements - I adore the depth it adds and how it brings it to life. I created a simple 4 x 5 Inches chipboard album base, which I covered with the Eggplant paper using the solid side. To add more dimension to the album cover I have added one layer of lined paper from the SV Essentials line, followed by another smaller layer of the Eggplant paper - but this time I have used the textured side for more added interest.
One of my favourite elements from all Color Vibe collections are the paper flowers!! They are so versatile, and you can totally make them unique to your style. I have layered three of the smaller ones (alternating between Wine and Eggplant) to create small paper flowers. I have curled all of the edges and added enamel dots to the centres. I have also created paper rosettes using paper from SV Vintage Essentials, which I have used to create a cluster behind my title. Tucked behind my cluster are leaves from the flower pack in Forest Green.
There are two inserts inside the album, which are held by white embroidery thread. I have used two of the smaller buttons from the collection and added them to the spine - how sweet are they?! White machine stitching adds a wonderful contrast to the dark shades of paper and I have added very simple embellishments to each page, leaving plenty of space to add photos or journalling. Handwriting using a white gel pen would look absolutely stunning on these dark pages!
I hope this has inspired you to create with the beautiful dark colours of the Color Vibes Darks collection! Such a perfect addition to create the perfect winter album!
Cheryl
