Hi everyone! This is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) and I have two layouts and videos to share today using the Simple Vintage Weathered Garden collection. It’s a really pretty collection full of lovely prints and beautiful flowers.
I started off by backing a chipboard frame with my photo…it was a perfect fit! I love the way the chipboard frames give your photos center-stage and really make them stand out.
I am always drawn to gingham prints and I therefore went straight for the large green and white gingham pattern. I really liked the green so I paired this up with two more shades of green from the 12x12 Basics Kit. I created torn strips of paper with the gingham being the main pattern on show.
I added my framed photo together with a small journaling card from one of the cut apart sheets. I also added lots of flowers: some from the Bits & Pieces pack, some from the Floral Bits pack and some from the Foam Stickers.
I added a title from the Foam Stickers too: Together. This block font was perfect to stand out against the colours on the layout and the frame.
I finished off the layout with a few more flowers, butterflies and hearts. I added journaling and a few splatters of white paint. Here is the link to the process video if you would like to watch along: https://youtu.be/piOdjQRTTC4
For my second layout I have also started off with a photo framed by one of the chipboard frames from the Weathered Garden collection. It’s a beautiful woodgrain frame with pretty details on the side. My photo fit perfectly and looked super lovely framed in this way.
I settled on the yellow gingham print for my background which I trimmed down a little and distressed the edges. I mounted this onto one of the black sheets from the Weathered Garden 12x12 Basics Kit. I love the dramatic look that black outlines gives the layout!
I added a long journaling card from one of the cut apart sheets together with another piece of yellow patterned paper. I distressed the edges of both and angled these onto my background together with my framed photo.
I then fussy cut lots of beautiful blooms from one of the Weathered Garden papers. This paper had a black background and when I fussy cut the flowers I left a narrow black outline. This really helped the flowers show up against the busy gingham background. I curled all the flowers too to give dimension. I arranged the flowers in a diagonal design at two corners of the frame.
I then added a number of label stickers. The phrases are really lovely saying things like ‘live love laugh’, ‘make the most of today’ and ‘the good life’. I also added a few hearts, both from the Foam Stickers and from the Bits & Pieces pack.
I finished off with white machine stitching around the edge of the gingham print, my journaling and splatters of black and white paint. I have made a process video for this layout too which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/FmscvBTvr_c
Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing this beautiful collection and have enjoyed my layouts. Happy scrapping!
