Hello, Simple Stories friends! It's Jen today with a project that takes a step back in time to 1993 when my husband and I were just getting to know one another. One of the first things we found we have in common is sharing the same birthday, which is today! Happy birthday to us!
There's a timeless charm in young love that captures our hearts, evoking memories of innocent joy and carefree romance, and today's project focuses on just that using the Simple Vintage Essentials Collection.
When working with the Simple Vintage Essentials Collection, I knew I wanted to focus on older photos, and this polaroid of us was the perfect jumping off point. I gravitated towards the Little Details patterned paper because it already had the base of the layout practically done. First, I fussy cut around the perimeter of the paper following the printed detail. Next, I machine stitched it to a darker paper from the collection. To give it even more of a vintage feel, I folded the edges of the paper upward so they look more tattered.
Again, using the patterned paper as my guide, I added washi tape to the top and bottom corners and stitched over them again. Next, I used the Botanicals and Typeset Rub Ons to give more depth to the background along with splatters of black paint.
The photo was next, and it was my favorite part of the process. I began by layering several different pieces of ephemera and assorted bits and used them as a matte for the picture. To create the realistic-looking clipboard, I added a clip from the Chipboard Clipboard embellishments using foam tape and glue atop the photo and ephemera. I followed that up with machine stitching to give added texture.
With the photo in place, I added several Botanical Bits, Take Note Bit & Pieces, Ephemera, and rub ons to finish the main cluster. I then added a foam sticker sentiment as my title with hand-written journaling just below the picture.
I finished the layout with several of the beautiful butterflies, which was the perfect touch. In the age of smartphones, there's something magical about capturing special memories through film photography, and I am so happy to have this one documented. Young love is indeed a treasure to behold, and using the Simple Vintage Essentials Collection enhances the beauty, simplicity and timelessness of such special memories.
Thank you so much for visiting today. I hope you've been inspired to document your special memories and create a lasting treasure.
