Hi friends! Vicki here today with a layout featuring the fabulous Totally 80’s collection. As someone who grew up in the 80’s, this collection brought back so many memories and made these photos even more fun to document. As soon as I saw this collection, I knew exactly which photos I wanted to scrapbook! I recently had some fun creating these 80’s-inspired photos of myself and all the bright colours, retro icons and fun embellishments in this collection were the perfect match.
I wanted to create a layout that let the collection take centre stage, so I started with the colourful cassette tape patterned paper before adding a large torn frame using a combination of patterned papers. The layered frame adds lots of interest around the edge of the page while keeping the centre nice and open to draw attention to the photos.
I printed my photos slightly smaller so I could use two on the page without overwhelming the design. The different poses help tell the story and add a playful feel that works perfectly with the fun 80’s theme.
One of my favourite things about this collection is the large, themed embellishments. I created two main embellishment clusters, using the fabulous roller skate in the top corner and the Aqua Set bottle in the bottom corner to balance the page. I layered in Bits & Pieces, Decorative Brads and Foam Stickers, then finished everything off with a few black ink splatters to help ground all those gorgeous bright colours.
For my title, I couldn’t resist using the colourful "The 80’s!" piece, adding a few of the journaling strips underneath to complete the story. The black accents throughout the collection work so well with the pops of pink, mint and orange and really make the whole page feel vibrant without becoming overwhelming.
This collection is packed with nostalgic details and was such a joy to create with.
