Thankful Fall Layout | Pumpkins & Plaid
Hello, Simple Stories friends! Gloria Parra here today, and I’m so excited to share a beautiful fall layout I created using the new Pumpkins & Plaid collection. I am totally in love with the rich, warm colors in this collection! Fall memories are always such a joy to scrapbook, and all those gorgeous oranges, burgundies, creams, and cozy patterns made this page so much fun to put together.
For my background, I started with the beautiful dark burgundy floral-patterned paper. I knew I wanted to create a strong vertical section through the center of my page that would hold my photos, title, journaling, and most of my embellishments while also creating some contrast against that darker background. I cut a piece of the plaid patterned paper to 6” x 12” and placed it vertically down the center of my page. I then added a ½” strip of the orange floral patterned paper along each side. To bring in some extra texture and give the page that cozy, homemade feel, I added zigzag machine stitching along both vertical borders.
Next, I printed two 4” x 4” photos and adhered them side by side near the center of my layout. I absolutely loved the trees in the ephemera pack, so I chose four in different fall colors and placed two on each side of my photos. I love how they frame the pictures and really bring that autumn scenery onto the page.
Below my photos, I created a little row of fall goodness using several pumpkins and the cutest little squirrel! I tucked my journaling directly underneath the photos as well. For this page, I wanted the journaling to be a little more personal and focus on being thankful for my own journey—for growing, learning, dreaming, and even appreciating the harder parts that have helped shape the life I have today.
From there, I created three main embellishment clusters to help move the eye around the page. I started at the bottom with the adorable little barn and countryside scene, adding a floral piece and the “Remember” chipboard sentiment. Above my photos, I layered two tags behind my large “Thankful” title and added another floral piece. Finally, in the upper-left corner, I created my third cluster using another tag, florals, the “Cozy Days” subtitle, and the sweetest little chipboard birdie.
For my finishing touches, I sprinkled Decorative Brads, enamel dots, and tiny hearts throughout the layout. These little details are always one of my favorite parts because they add just that extra bit of texture and dimension and help tie all the different clusters together.
I absolutely love how cozy and homemade this layout feels! The warm colors, plaid patterns, stitching, and all those adorable fall icons give me all the autumn vibes.
