Take Note Mini Album

Take Note Mini Album

Hey friends, welcome back to the blog! Today I’m sharing a super fun (and surprisingly simple) way to create a mini album using a large paper clip and a 6 x 8 paper pad. This project is perfect for using up patterned papers and scraps, and it comes together quickly with lots of room for embellishment.

I started by pulling papers from my 6 x 8 paper pad and trimming them down to 3 1/2 x 5 inches for the inside pages. For the cover, I trimmed two pieces to 3 1/2 x 6 inches—one from a floral pattern with black polka dots, and another from a black-and-white polka dot paper with a journaling pattern on the back.

For the spine, I cut a piece measuring 2 x 3 1/2 inches. I stitched the spine to both the front and back cover right along the edge, then scored the spine right down the center so it would fold nicely. To assemble the album, I stitched the inside pages directly to the back cover, placing the stitching about 1 inch from the top of the page. Once that was done, I slipped the front cover through the long end of the paper clip.

When it came time to decorate, I had so much fun layering in all the details. I used a variety of pieces from the office ephemera, including a fun oversized typewriter on the cover. Throughout the album, I added journaling bits and bits and pieces to bring in texture and interest. For finishing touches, I embellished with glossy enamel dots and decorative brads, then created my titles using a mix of foam stickers, cardstock stickers, and die-cut pieces.

One of my favorite additions is the little dangle charm. To make it, I cut three pieces of twine, each about 6 inches long. Using leftover paper scraps, I punched 3/4-inch circles. Since I wanted six dangles, I punched 18 circles total (three circles per dangle). To assemble them, I gently folded the center of one circle, adhered a second circle on top with liquid adhesive, then—before adding the third circle—I sandwiched the twine in the center. Finally, I closed it up with the last circle to secure everything in place.

This mini album is such a creative way to use simple supplies and turn them into something playful and interactive. I love how compact it is, and that paper clip binding gives it a unique twist!

Have a fabulous day!
