Hello Simple Stories friends!
It's Nathalie with you today with a bit of fresh inspiration featuring the new fun and bright SWEET SUMMERTIME collection. This is the perfect combination of beautiful patterns, fresh color palette, and the cutest icons that can easily help you with your Summer crafting. I am using the collection to document a summertime favorite for my family in a simple and graphic way, let's take a look

I am always drawn to graphic and linear patterns, so the plaid design in the Combo Elements paper just drew my eye. I quickly saw the idea of using the corners (as a type of photo corner) to highlight the images on the layout. So, I carefully cut the four corners of the paper and using a crafty knife, I cleaned out the white spaces between the diagonal lines.

I needed to balance those large corners on the layout, so I used the same idea of isolating the diagonal stripes with the crafty knife with the smallest paper corner -from Combo Elements paper-. I trimmed a piece of Easy Breezy Days paper -just big enough to house the photos and then added the corners to the opposite sides from the large paper and set it on the base.

I cut a 10 3/4" square of Color Vibe Warm White cardstock and weaved the top left and bottom right corner of the paper in it, then glued the paper to the back of the Journal Elements paper -making sure that it was centered properly on the page.

I backed the photos with a piece of paper from the 6x8 paper pad and weaved the corners of the photos on the triangles once they were set on the layout. Then It was all about embellishing, The small paper corners provided the idea space to add simple embellishments, as I had planned for a large title,

For the title, I combined pieces from the Chipboard pieces and Foam Stickers to the left of the photos so that they will balance the layout. I pulled a few icons to complete the sentiment of the layout and added them to complete the title cluster.

I love how this page came together, and the bold look of the title and "photo corners". I hope this inspires you to reach for your SWEET SUMMERTIME collection for your next crafty project.
'Til next time,
Nathalie
