Go You! by Suzanna Lee

Hello Simple Stories fans! Suzanna here today to share with you a project created using the newest products from the Simple Stories ‘Color Vibe’ collection. I was already a huge fan and frequent user of the Textured Cardstock and Alphabet options, but have you seen additions to the collection? There are buttons, enamel dots, washi, flowers and chipboard bits. In all the same color palettes! Amazing, I know, right?! Today I’d like to share with you a layout I created featuring the Fall color palette.

This layout was created with just cardstock and the Color Vibe embellishments, no patterned paper! It’s fun to see how far you can stretch your products by getting the most out of your cardstock and coordinating “simple” or “basic” embellishments.

In the absence of patterned paper, all of the color of this layout, minus the obvious color from the photos, comes from the Color Vibe cardstock and embellishments. This means one needs to get creative with layers and use of those embellishments in creative ways so as to create contrast, balance and texture on the layout.

Layering the chipboard pennants with the Basic white letter tiles, there is a nice color contrast that draws your eye and attention to the title. The small detail of the small enamel dots adds even more interest. They resemble little push pins that might be holding the pennants in place, don’t they?

The rows of colored stars from the Color Vibe Chipboard Bits above and below this central photo really draw your attention to the fact that this is the central photo. The single chipboard arrow to the top/right of the photo pointing to the title help direct movement on the page.

There are so many great options to choose from with the Color Vibes Flower Bits. As this is a page about my son, I’m not afraid of using the flowers but I did want to keep it to a minimum. Using the floral pieces allowed me to have continued variety of color in a cluster. For some personal touch, I used gold foil in the larger flower. I also used some jute to “attach” the chipboard Label frame from the Color Vibe Chipboard Bits to the page, with a strip of coordinating washi below.

Here's a final look at the whole layout in its entirety. So much you can do with color when you’re using the Color Vibe collection. A compliment to any of the Simple Stories collections or fantastic used just as it is, as I have done here! I know I will be needing more of those Chipboard pieces; they are my favorite of the new additions! And so many wonderful colors to choose from! I hope you’re inspired to check out the new additions to the already wonderful Color Vibes collections!

Thanks for stopping in today! See you next month!
