One of the things that Simple Stories collections always does a great job of is having a mixture of bright and vibrant patterns mixed in with more subtle details. This is part of why they are so easy to work with no matter what your style. Usually I mix the colors up and balance the bright with subtle. But today, well, I went all in on the bright! Little boy pictures at the pool in the heat of summer just call for bright! Christine joining you today with a layout featuring the Sunkissed Collection!
As I looked through all the patterned papers in this collection, I had so many ideas! I really wanted to create a sunburst look but in a different way. I also wanted to create some waves and well, so many things! I will be revisiting this collection regularly throughout the summer!
If you are looking to add a piece to each collection that will ensure you have a surplus of title options, the foam stickers are the way to go. Every time I go to create a layout, they are my go to product. I even have a drawer of them to use beyond the original collections just working them as titles. They have great texture, dimension, and are a perfect size for titles.
The tags are ALWAYS a favorite of mine as well. Having them on a patterned paper makes them really stretch! Today I folded them at an angle and then cut them down to create the triangles that make up my sunburst. This is nearly impossible to explain in words - so hop on over to my YouTube Channel to see how I did it! I honestly wasn't sure if it would work - but I totally love the look! It allows for so many patterns to be on there and with the white below the patterns it keeps things from being too busy.
The bits and pieces in this collection work great for a variety of summer activities from sunshine to water themes to outdoors fun.
Because my pictures were water themed, I made use of the pool/beach type themed Bits & Pieces. Then to finish off my embellishing I used Foam Stickers that were heart shaped! I'm always thankful for the simple small embellishments in shapes that are hearts or stars.
When I initially started making this layout - I thought I would do a circle shape with the tag pieces. However as I laid it out I was drawn to staggering them and creating a unique look. This angle really showcases that and how well it came together.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope this has got you ready to start crafting those summer memories!
