Hello Simple Stories friends! It's Rebeca Ruiz in the blog today. Do you love summer, happy colors and creating memories? If you do, you are in the right place and you are going to enjoy the layout I'm sharing using the Summer Snapshots collection by Simple Stories.
After looking into the collection, I decided to use these photos of my daughter and husband in the pool. I cut them into circles, one bigger than the other to create interest in the area and make it the focal point. To mat the photos, I used patterned papers from the 6" x 8" paper pad since their designs are smaller and can be seen better.
On the top and bottom areas of the layout, I added strips of patterned papers. First, I added the colors stripes to have the opportunity to use all the colors available in the kit in this layout. Then, I added the white polka dot paper to create contrast between the colors, and an orange scalloped border. To create the border, I used the washi tape from the collection, matted with a piece of white cardstock, then I punched the design. Finally, on the bottom area, I added a strip of the teal wave paper.
For the title, I used foam words with different fonts and colors. By doing this, I made the title more interesting. Around the photos, I added arrows with words to point to the photos and help the eye see them.
To embellish the layout, I used rub-ons near the photos (waves and garland), layered chipboards, foam stickers, chipboard stickers, decorative brads, enamel dots and stickers from the sticker book. I mixed all the different products to give the layout dimension and texture, creating a more interesting project for the viewer.
In this layout, you can find many embellishments, but you can also see a lot of white space that gives you the opportunity to rest your eyes. This way the viewer can see all the details on the page and move in a diagonal direction since there is a cluster in the bottom, middle, and top area.
