Hi everyone! I’m Celes (@guiademanualidades), and today I’m so happy to share my Spooky Moments Halloween Layout with you, created with the Classic Mouse Halloween collection. Halloween is always a fun excuse to play with bold colors, unexpected details, and a little bit of spooky magic! For this page, I wanted the photo to be the heart of the design, surrounded by playful Halloween details, while the large spiderweb helps guide the eye through the entire composition. And of course, I couldn’t resist adding lots of tiny stars, bats, pumpkins, layers, and dimension along the way. Let’s take a closer look at how this spooky (but very cute!) layout came together!

Before we start with the step-by-step, let me tell you a little about the memory behind this page. This photo is from a Halloween celebration I enjoyed in New York, so I wanted the layout to feel just as fun, playful, and full of Halloween spirit as that day. With that memory in mind, I started building the design with lots of color, layers, and a few spooky details. Let’s get started!
Base of layout
The first thing we’ll prepare is the base of the layout. For it, I used one of the papers from the collection that has a grid together with a Mickey design on one side, and a green design with stitched details on the reverse.
I didn’t want to use the Mickey design, but I did want to create a decorative border along the left side of the layout by combining different papers from the collection and two of the dies that Simple Stories has created with Sizzix.
I combined four papers from the collection to create this layered border, and I die-cut one of the patterned papers from the collection with the scalloped border die and another with the strip border die. For the strip border, I used Simple Stories Cream cardstock.
We need to cut three strips of patterned paper—in my case, the green, black with stars, and plaid papers—measuring 1 1/2” wide x 12” high. We’ll also die-cut four lilac scalloped borders and four Cream strip borders.
Adhere the cut and die-cut papers in the order shown in the photo. I added 3D foam adhesive to the green paper strip, along with the two lilac scalloped borders. I also added 3D foam adhesive to the die-cut strip borders.
The photo I’m using measures 4 1/2” wide x 3 1/2” high. I cut a mat for it from Simple Stories Cream cardstock, making it 1/8” larger than the photo on each side, and adhered the photo onto it.

As the final details for the base of my layout, I added a black piece that resembles spiderweb, measuring approximately 6 1/2” wide x 11 1/2” high.
Before starting to build the composition and adhering all the pieces in place, I also added some black watercolor splatters.

Details
For the decorative details, once all the pieces of the base are in place, the first thing we’ll do is position the photo approximately 5” from the bottom edge of the paper, overlapping the layered border composition we created by approximately 1 5/8”. Keep in mind that the photo should be adhered with 3D foam adhesive so it sits at the same height as the layered border on the base of the layout.
Once the photo is adhered, we can start building all the decorative details. For this, I used the different embellishments listed in the products used here in the post. I also added white gauze as an extra detail to bring more texture to the layout and the composition. As you add the decorative elements, remember to use 3D foam adhesive on some of them to help level the different layers throughout the composition.
On the top left corner of the photo, I created another layered decorative cluster using different elements from the collection.
As a final detail, I added a few black enamel dots, which give the layout that perfect little touch of subtle shine.

hope you enjoyed seeing how this Spooky Moments Halloween Layout came together! I loved playing with all the layers, textures, and tiny Halloween details, and especially using them to document such a fun memory from New York. I hope this project inspires you to mix different papers, embellishments, and textures to create lots of dimension in your own layouts. Thank you so much for joining me today, and I’ll see you again soon with another project to share. Happy crafting! xoxo
