Hey everyone! This is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) with two new layouts and process videos using the Simple Sets: Birthday, and Happy New Year. These collections are ‘Simple Sets’ which means each mini collection pack contains six sheets of patterned papers and a Cardstock Sticker Sheet – sometimes that is all you need! I think the Simple Sets are super fun to use with just enough for a few layouts!
For my first layout today, I have used the Birthday Simple Set. I wanted to use all the gorgeous patterns in the collection, so I cut strips in various sizes and widths and cut each one into a flag shape. | used a sheet of white cardstock for my background and arranged the flagged strips across the layout. I added the border sticker from the Cardstock Stickers across the top of the flags.
I added my photo on the left side of the flags, and then added my title to the right of my photo. The title is from the Cardstock Stickers and I just raised the stickers up on foam pads for a dimensional effect. I made a small cluster of embellishments to the left of my photo using more of the Cardstock Stickers.
I added a few other stickers to the flags, including some phrase strip stickers. I then added a sprinkling of sequins, handwrote my journaling and finished off with splatters of black paint for a splash of contrast – I love how the black splatters look with the bright colours in this Simple Set!

For my second layout today I have used the Happy New Year Simple Set. The colours and papers in this collection are just fabulous and so fun to scrap New Year celebration photos with of course!
Now we don’t often get to go out for New Years as we have limited access to babysitters, but this year we actually managed to go out! We took the big kids with us and this was the first time they have ever stayed out until midnight to see in the New Year! We had so much fun, so it was great to scrap these photos! I took quite a lot of photos that night so decided to make a double layout. I don’t make double layouts very often, but I always enjoy making them when I do, so really, I should do more!
I started with a double background of white cardstock and I used two of the bright papers from the collection to create large blocks of colour on each side. I love the striped paper so much, it is so colourful! I also loved the numbers paper, again the colours are so bright, and they look awesome against the black background. I fussy cut around the numbers to create a shaped border on each side.
I then added strips of the stripy paper across the layout as a base to put my photos on, and I cut up a few more of the stripes individually which I also placed on the background – but for these ones I rolled the ends – like a party blower!
I used stickers from the Cardstock Stickers to embellish my layout and used two titles from that sheet: ‘celebrate’ and ‘cheers’. I also cut up some of the 2x2 squares from one of the papers and used these as embellishments too.
I finished off with handwritten journaling and splatters of black paint! Here is the link to my process video so you can see how it came together: https://youtu.be/4QrIGjYNwaE
Happy new year everyone and thanks so much for joining me today,
Happy scrapping
