Hello friends! Gloria Parra here with you today sharing a new layout using the gorgeous “Retro Summer” collection. As soon as I saw all the ice creams, popsicles and sweets elements in this collection I knew I had to do a layout about my youngest girl who ADORES ice cream with all her heart! One of my favorite color combos ever is pink and teal and this collection has some beautiful papers in those colors, so I created my layout with that color palette in mind.

I started my layout by cutting the dripping icing paper that caught my eye right away! I used an exacto knife to cut all around the icing but leaving ¼ of an inch on both lateral borders, without cutting it to the end. I then cut the teal graph paper in 11,5” x11,5” and tucked it right under the icing paper, leaving an equal border all around the 3 sides.

I love dimension, so I added some foam adhesive under the icing to give it some depth and the illusion of the icing dripping from the top of my layout.

Using the brown sprinkle paper and the ice cream paper, I created a border that will be the base for my photos and embellishments. To give it some texture I ripped carefully my patterned paper to create my two borders, they are approximately 2,5” x 12”. At the top I added the striped sticker from the sticker sheet and added some stitching to all my borders. I love the texture that stitching adds to my layouts.

From the 6x8 paper pad I cut out the ice cream YUM cup and from the 4x6 elements patterned paper I fussy cut the ice cream truck. For my 2 3x4 photos I used one of my favorite elements in every Simple Stories collection, the chipboard photo frames! These frames are amazing to make your photo stand out and makes putting a layout together so easy!

I then proceeded to my favorite part of creating a layout; embellishing!!!! I used lots of elements from the bits and pieces ephemera pack, added some chipboard stickers and some of the beautiful deco brads included in this collection. I love layers in my layouts, so I tucked pieces and used lots of foam adhesive to create depth and dimension.
To finish my layout and give my sprinkles some sparkle, I used some pearlized Pops of Color and Nuvo Drops that add the final touch to my ice cream dripping at the top!

Thank you SO much for stopping by today and checking out my layout, hope you feel inspired to create with this gorgeous collection!!! Until next time friends, have a great day!!!
Love, Gloria
