Precious Bundle of Joy

Precious Bundle of Joy

Hello crafty friends! Gloria Parra here, and today I’m excited to share an interactive layout created with the absolutely adorable Say Cheese Classic Pooh Baby collection from Simple Stories. This collection is full of the sweetest details, soft colors, and timeless characters, making it perfect for documenting those precious baby moments and milestones.

For this layout, I knew right away that I wanted to feature the months patterned paper from the collection and highlight the journey from one to six months. I started with the ledger patterned paper as my base and fussy cut the borders of Pooh and Piglet, that way I would be able to tuck something behind them. From the months patterned paper, I carefully cut the top and middle section to isolate the numbers one through six, which became the interactive element of the page.

To create the flip-up feature, I used a scoring board to score a line about half an inch from the top of each month card, right above the numbers. Then, using a craft knife, I cut three small slits to allow each card to flip open and reveal a hidden photo underneath. This adds such a fun surprise element and makes the layout extra special. To frame the six months, I used a coral patterned paper from the collection, cutting it to measure approximately 9½ inches wide by 8¼ inches tall. The six-month card holds a photo on top, making it the only card that doesn’t flip up, which helps visually anchor the design.

Once the interactive section was complete, I tucked it behind the fussy-cut Pooh and Piglet and adhered everything in place. From the colorful lined patterned paper, I cut a strip measuring 2 inches by 9½ inches and adhered it across the top of the coral frame, letting it extend slightly beyond the edge for added layering and interest.

With the base complete, it was time to embellish. I started with the title in the top left corner, using a journaling tag, some floral elements, and a sweet foam sticker to bring everything together. Each month card from one through five received its own little tab and a small embellishment to make every flip-up unique and playful. For month six, I die-cut a large number six and layered it with a couple of small tags to create a slightly different look that highlights the photo of my sweet little girl.

To finish the layout, I sprinkled some bees across the page, adding movement and tying in the whimsical feel of the collection. This interactive layout is such a lovely way to document the passage of time and celebrate the beautiful milestones babies reach during their first months.

I hope you enjoyed this project and feel inspired to give an interactive layout a try. You can find the process video for this layout on my YouTube channel @gloriascraps to follow along. Until next time, sending you lots of love and crafty hugs.
