Not So Scary Oct 31st by Gloria Parra

Hello Simple Stories friends! Gloria Parra here with a super fun and not so scary Halloween layout featuring the fabulous Say Cheese Classic Mouse Halloween Collection! For this layout, I went with a grid design and made use of one of my favorite Simple Stories products—the Page Templates (design 3)—to help create the foundation for my layout. I love how templates make it so easy to create a balanced design while still leaving plenty of room to add lots of layers and embellishments!

To start this layout, I chose the multicolor star patterned paper as my base and paired it with an orange Color Vibe cardstock and the purple polka dot patterned paper, which I used for my layers. I then brought in my Page Template and began filling in the six 3” x 4” spaces. I chose three photos from Halloween and placed them in the top middle, left, and right spaces.

For the remaining three spaces, I used the Elements patterned paper from the collection and cut apart three of my favorite 3” x 4” cards. I placed Mickey in the top left, Minnie in the top right, and the fun text card in the center below my photo. I especially love how Mickey and Minnie are both looking toward my youngest daughter in the center photo—it creates such a fun and cohesive visual triangle between the photos and the cards.

For my title, I placed the “Not So Scary” foam sticker right in the center of the layout and tucked the “October 31st” cut-apart piece underneath it. I wanted the title to be the main focal point, so placing it right in the middle really helped bring the entire grid design together.

Next, I decided to add a border sticker from the sticker sheet along the bottom of the grid. It almost creates a little shelf for my photos and cards, and I love how this small detail makes the grid feel a little more playful and organic rather than too structured.

For my journaling, I tucked a small journaling card into the top right corner, added my typed story, and finished it with a fun pom-pom-style banner across the top. To finish the layout, I sprinkled lots of little stars, bats, and word bubbles throughout the design. These little embellishments add just the right amount of movement and help bring the whole page to life.

I love how playful and fun this layout turned out, and I hope it inspires you to pull out your Say Cheese Classic Mouse Halloween Collection and create a little Halloween magic of your own!
Until next time, friends!
Big hugs,
Gloria
