Can we all just take a moment to admire the beauty that is the Simple Stories Simple Vintage Lemon Twist collection? The beautiful yellow, teal, and green tones make me so happy . . . probably because they are my favorite colors. I have been so excited to dig into this new collection, and I can’t wait to share the first project I’ve created.
Everyone has probably figured out by now that I love incorporating the stencils into my projects. I love having the ability to create using colors I gravitate towards and adding unique elements to layouts. This project began with my using the Lemon Twist Stencil, which is a major focal point.
To begin, I used the 6 x 6 stencil with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink on light patterned paper from the 12 x 12 Basics Kit. Next, I splattered Speckled Egg and Black Soot inks across the paper to add more color.
Using another patterned paper from the collection, I matted the photo. The bottom edges were distressed to keep with the vintage feel of the project.
Using florals on layouts is my absolute favorite. Since I really wanted to create a visual impact, I used a few chipboard pieces along with a ton of the floral, butterfly, and lemon ephemera.
Additionally, I cut several more flowers using the Simple Stories Flowers cut file (310982) and adhered everything with foam squares. The way each of them pops off of the page is gorgeous.
The title was created using a Foam Sticker and black letters from the Sticker Book. I hand wrote Abby’s initials and the date just below the title before doodling a few black dots throughout the layout. After everything was in place, I went back and added a torn strip of washi tape along the top and bottom borders of the page. Doing this tied everything together and added contrast to those plain edges.
This project was so fun to create and I cannot wait to get it in a frame and hung up (this one is not going into an album). Thank you for stopping by today, and I can’t wait to see what you create with the beautiful Simple Vintage Lemon Twist Collection!
