Hello, Nicole here today to share a single page layout with the new Simple Vintage Junk Drawer collection.
I tend to gravitate toward bold, bright, and playful collections, so the Simple Vintage line always feels like a creative stretch for me. When I first pulled out the Junk Drawer collection, I honestly wasn’t sure how to approach it — until I stopped thinking about the products and started thinking about what a junk drawer actually represents.
We tuck things into junk drawers when they don’t feel important in the moment. Little bits and pieces we don’t need right now. And yet, when we finally clean them out, those items often hold the most meaning. That idea led me straight to some very recent photos from a family visit with my grandparents. We made a point to take a family photo with that quiet “just in case” feeling, and only later realized it truly would be the last one. Losing my Granddad shortly after made me incredibly thankful for that moment — and for a collection that pushed me to document it.
For the design, I cut apart tags and library folders from the 12x12 patterned papers to create a layered base for my photos and embellishments. I paired them with Simple Basics papers, choosing yellow for the background to bring a subtle warmth to the page, then added a stitched double frame to anchor everything.
To finish the layout, I pulled pieces from the Foam Stickers, 12x12 Sticker Sheet, Bits & Pieces, and Journal Bits & Pieces, tucking them in around the tags and focusing on elements that reminded me of my grandparents. This layout is a reminder that even the collections that feel outside our comfort zone can sometimes help us tell the stories that matter most.
