Life in Color Layout
By Gloria Parra

Hello, Simple Stories friends! Gloria Parra here with a very fun and colorful layout to share with you using the fabulous Color Me Happy collection! This collection is bursting with happy colors, playful icons, and the sweetest retro-inspired details that make creating bright and joyful projects so much fun.

To start this layout, I used the beautiful pink ledger paper as the base for my design. I then grabbed a sheet of white cardstock and drew a 9.5-inch circle that I would later use as my template. Using a ruler, I first marked the center of the circle and then divided it into five different sections. I made sure the sections were not all equal in size because I wanted the design to feel playful, organic, and full of movement.

Once I had my circle divided, I cut each section apart to use them as templates. Using papers from the 6x8 paper pad, I selected five colorful patterns that followed a rainbow-inspired color arrangement: pink, orange, yellow, green, and blue. I traced each template onto the patterned papers, cut them out, and then added hand stitching around each piece using matching thread colors for extra texture and detail.

After finishing the stitching, I adhered the pieces onto the pink ledger background using foam adhesive to create dimension and make the design pop off the page. I then added my 3x4 photo to the left side of the circle, backing it with the black polka dot patterned paper to help it stand out against all the bright colors.

To cover the center where all the sections meet, I used one of the adorable circular chipboard embellishments that reminds me of a vintage rotary phone dial. I love how it becomes the focal point that ties the entire design together! I then added the “Life in Color” chipboard title across the green section on the right side of the layout.

The final step was embellishing each section with coordinating embellishments in matching tones. I had so much fun layering florals, retro icons, labels, and little pops of black throughout the page to bring everything together while still keeping the rainbow effect flowing around the circle.

This was such a fun layout to create, and I absolutely love how bright, happy, and playful it turned out! I hope this idea inspires you to create your own colorful pie-chart-inspired design using the amazing Color Me Happy collection. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and happy crafting!
