Hello, crafty friends, it’s Becki here!! Today I’m sharing a layout created with the gorgeous Open Road collection. This page documents one of my favorite travel memories, and I had so much fun pulling together layers, textures, and cheerful details to tell the story.
When I started this page, I knew I wanted the photo to be the focal point, so I built the design around it using blocks of patterned paper. One of my favorite ways to add interest to a layout is by mixing smaller pieces of paper to create a patchwork effect. The Open Road collection is perfect for this because all of the colors and patterns coordinate beautifully while still bringing plenty of variety and personality to the page.
I chose a neutral background paper to help all of those warm oranges, yellows, greens, and aqua tones really pop. Then, I layered patterned paper scraps behind the photo to create dimension and guide the eye toward the center of the layout.
Of course, I couldn’t resist adding embellishments! The florals, butterflies, globe, sunshine, and adorable little car helped reinforce the travel theme while also adding softness and movement to the design. I love clustering embellishments around the photo to help frame it and create balance across the page.
To finish the layout, I added twine and enamel dots for texture and little finishing touches that make the page feel complete. Sometimes it’s the smallest details that bring everything together!
