Hi Friends! Andrea with you today sharing a new project using the colorful Holly Days collection by Simple Stories. This is one of those projects that will live on my shelve year-round. For this collection, I decided to mix three projects in one. I used the Advent Calendar Christmas Tree Gifts and a Round Box cut files by Lori Whitlock and created a circle-shaped mini album that is kept as my Christmas gift inside the box.

I know it may sound like a complicated project, but once we break it down into smaller projects, it becomes easier and super fun to approach. First, I created the tree setup. I used a 12x12” patterned paper from the Holly Days collection to create the tree following the cut file instructions. I did the same for the gift boxes but used 5 different patterned papers from the 6x8” paper pad to get smaller patterns since my boxes are around 1x1x1”. I only cut 10 boxes to decorate 2 sides of the tree and decorated the other two sides with 3D trees of different colors and sizes to make it fun. I used different stickers, decorative brads, and bits from the collection to decorate the boxes. I am honestly not planning on adding any treats inside them but it’s definitely a good idea if you want to try it.

The second project is putting the box together. Once again, I used a cut file that is easy to assemble. I only needed to make sure the box was at least as big as the round base we used for our tree base so this piece can rest on top of the box. The diameter of my box is 6”. I used two different pieces of the same patterned paper from my Holly Days collection kit for the lid and base of the box. If you only have a limited amount of patterned papers, you can use different colors for the top and bottom pieces and the side pieces of the box that will be the ones you will end up seeing. Once our box base and lids are put together, we glue the first structure to our lid. I only added machine stitching details to the edges of the box for some texture.

The third project is a circle shape mini album that lives in the box. I used different metal dies to create different size circles and different circle borders. I used patterned papers and Color Vibe textured cardstock for the base pages of the mini album, added my photos, and used foam and puffy stickers, enamel dots, bits & pieces, and journal pieces from the Holly Days collection to decorate it. This is what I love the most about working with a beautiful collection like this, knowing that the size of my project won’t really matter because all of the elements will coordinate. I can create three separate projects and put them together as one because every single element coordinates.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope this project inspires you to think outside box and find ways to incorporate and use all the products from our collections to create unique pieces. I will be sharing a flip through video on my Instagram account with a closer view to this “Advent Calendar Tree-Circle shaped mini album in a box” project.
