Let’s Get Away with Simple Vintage Sand & Sea
Hello friends! There’s something about the coast that instantly makes me slow down, breathe a little deeper, and smile. When I sat down with the beautiful Simple Vintage Sand & Sea collection, I knew I wanted to create a page that captured that feeling of escaping to the seaside and making memories with people you love.
For this layout, I started with the gorgeous Seaside Smiles patterned paper. I love how the soft watercolour ocean design creates a calm, airy background while still adding plenty of interest. It was the perfect foundation for my lighthouse-inspired story.
To draw attention to my photos, I layered them together with lots of die cuts and chipboard pieces from the collection. One of my favourite things about this collection is how easy it is to build little clusters full of texture and detail. I combined the lighthouse, seagull, beach umbrella, hat, florals and beach ball to create fun seaside scenes that help tell the story without overwhelming the page.
The title, “Let’s Get Away,” was the perfect choice for these photos. I placed it near the top of the layout and surrounded it with florals and embellishments to make it a real focal point. The pops of bright red from the title and the lighthouse details balance beautifully against all the soft blues throughout the page. I also scattered a few of the rub-ons, including good vibes, fun times and let’s go, around the page. These little sentiments help lead your eye across the design and reinforce the relaxed holiday feel.
One of my favourite techniques on this layout is repeating similar elements in different areas. The umbrellaås, lighthouses and circular embellishments appear more than once, creating visual balance while keeping the design cohesive. Even with lots of embellishments, the generous white space from the background keeps everything feeling fresh and light.
