Hey crafty friends! It’s Cheryl on the blog today showing you this cute recipe book using the new What’s Cookin’ collection.
This collection comes with a set of 4x6 recipe cards and I wanted to use these to create a recipe/memory book! I created a basic chipboard base measuring 4.25 x 6.25 Inches in a horizontal layout. I wrapped my chipboard base with a really pretty pink patterned paper with lots of florals from the collection kit and added a dark brown wood grain paper from the 6x8 paper pad on the spine and I cannot get over how beautiful the contrast of dark brown looks against the pale pink album cover!!
With the same pink floral paper I created a little cluster for my front cover - I love the tone-on-tone paper and I think it makes this cover look very “clean” and elegant. A couple of gold touches add a bit of glam.
My spine is quite wide and I did this on purpose! I created pockets/tuck spots on the inside just behind the front cover, which can house photos, old recipe cards from families or any kind of ephemera you have.
The actual recipe book has been created using binding wires and I have also added 3 flip out pages using the Peony Color Vibe card. It has a 5x4 Inch flip out that can feature notes, photos and additional ingredients. Or it can be used to document family memories!
The inside page of the back cover features a little slot that holds the recipe book. It can be taken out of the album and replaced with something else. Need to upgrade your recipe book? Not a problem with this feature as it’s easily removable. Seam binding helps keep the album shut, especially if it’s bursting with delicious recipes and photos!
What’s Cookin’ is such a pretty collection with so many unique and versatile papers and patterns - it can be used for any kind of scrapbooking and doesn’t just have to feature recipes.
