JOY! on Main Street layout by Andrea Lake
Nothing says “holiday magic” quite like Mickey in a Santa hat! For this 12" x 12" layout, I dove into the Say Cheese Classic Mouse Christmas collection and built a merry, memory-packed page around a favorite 4" x 6" photo of my family with Mickey and Minnie at Walt Disney World—snapped more than 20 years ago. The nostalgic colors and classic icons were the perfect match for this throwback moment.

The top half of the page features a cozy quilting effect created from one of the patterned papers. I stitched around the design that shows neat squares for that handmade, homespun feel—think festive quilt meets park maps and churros. To frame everything, I layered multiple patterned papers as the background: playful polka dots, candy-red, and soft text prints add depth without stealing the spotlight from the photo.

For the title and embellishing, I mixed stickers and ephemera from across the collection. Chipboard, foam, and cardstock pieces in varying thicknesses bring tons of dimension—string lights, rosettes, banners, and word strips tuck in and out of the photo cluster for a lively, layered look. I also added a vertical journaling spot to record the story of our chilly park day, when the characters made us forget the weather and remember the wonder.

A few finishing touches—machine stitching around the blocks, tiny labels, and postage-style bits—pull the page together with that signature Simple Stories charm. I love how the classic mouse motifs and Christmas palette instantly transport us back to Main Street, U.S.A., proving that some memories (and collections!) never go out of style.
I would love to see what amazing projects you create with this cute collection.
Love, Andrea
