Hello crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on the Simple Stories blog today to share with you this sweet and romantic mini album that I created using the new ‘Simple Vintage Love Story’ collection.
This collection features all things LOVE. While creating with it, I was head-over-heels for the vintage shades of red, pink, and blue. Not to mention the beautiful florals, plentiful butterflies, and sweet sentiments throughout every inch of this collection! Could it get any better?!
To create the base of this album, I used medium weight chipboard. I love using chipboard because it provides a very sturdy, heavy feel to albums (they feel like actual books!). If you don't have chipboard on hand, however, you can use an old food or cereal box and simply cut it down to the following sizes:
- The covers of my album measured 3.75 x 4.75 inches.
- The spine of my album measured 1.25 x 4.75 inches.
I wrapped my chipboard using paper from the 12 x 12 Vintage Basics kit. I opted for the light blue shade. To make the spine stand out a bit more, I used a sheet of paper from the 6 x 8 Paper Pad that I trimmed down to 4 x 4.75 inches and added it around the spine, adhering the edges to both the front and back covers. This just adds a bit more fun and character to the album!
Next, I lined the inside of the album using a sheet of patterned paper from the 12 x 12 Collection Kit.
To bind pages to this album, I used my Crop-A-Dile tool to punch and add a heart-shaped eyelet to the top of the back cover, about ½ inch down from the edge. I then added a white binder ring from my stash through this hole.
The pages of this album were made from all of the fun cut-aparts from the Collection Kit. I used tags, journaling cards, and smaller cut-apart elements to create pages of various sizes. I love doing this when creating tag flip albums—it just makes them that much more fun to flip through!
To decorate the pages of this album, I used elements from all of the embellishments from this collection.
One thing I love doing is using the Decorative Brads and Foam Stickers to create dimension throughout albums, so I added quite a few of those onto the pages of this project.
On the back of the tag pages, I used the Enamel Dots to create bullet points for future journaling.
Throughout the album and on the front cover of the album, I used some flowers and butterflies from the Floral Bits.
To store this album, I created a small storage box using another sheet of paper from the 12 x 12 Vintage Basics kit. This time around I used the green shade and I loved how it contrasted against the blue and pink of the album itself.
When it came to embellishing this storage box, I used a large camera die cut from the Chipboard Clusters and layered some flowers and butterflies around it.
I also added a “Forever” sentiment to the spine of this box, to really drive home the theme of everlasting love!
I am swooning over how cute this project turned out! This collection was so much fun to work with and is great for documenting all the loves in your life!
Thanks so much for stopping by my post today. I’ll see you next time with another fun project!
