Hello Crafty Friends!
Nathalie with you today to share a new project with the new HOMEGROWN collection from Simple Stories. I love the cute designs and feel of the collection, and it totally inspired this project all about my kids' love to visit farms through the years.
I chose a 4x6 Black Buffalo Check for this project. My first choice was to create the cover. I trimmed one of the papers from the 6x8 paper pad, added the border sticker for the base. Then, I pulled the large barnyard image from the Simple Page Paper Pieces (On The Farm) to create the focal point of the cover. I added a few more embellishments, and one of the foam stickers for the title.
For the inside cover, I created a simple cluster of embellishments that repeat the idea of the outer cover design. I wanted a transparency for my title/cover page; so, I used the Cow Dots 6x6 stencil and navy texture paste to create the texture. The foam stickers combined with Yellow Alpha Stickers work perfect for the title of the cover.
My album follows a chronological series of farm visits (I have to digitize all the photos!). I am choosing a simple design for some of my album layouts: 4x6 photos in a page protector, and a 4x6 card on the opposite side. I have left space for my journal in some of the cards, while others are just presentation cards.
I am adding small pockets between cards to add my journaling bits. The Tags paper is perfect to add interest to a page, plus serve as a journal spot.
Whenever I have multiple pictures of a visit, my choice is to create an interactive element. This helps to conceal the image, and lighten the look of the page. I am using vellum for this insert, as it is a great way to still show the image behind the flap.
Like I mentioned before, we are still digitizing a large part of our kids early years' photos. So, I have prepared the layouts for the photos. This time, I trimmed one of the Sn@p Album inserts (Instapocket) to fit in the 4x6 Flipbook. The photo will sit in the large 4x4" squares, along with a small journal spot. While the 2x2" pockets serve as the embellishment for the layouts -having the embellishments outside of the pocket adds interest and a tactile element to the layout-
Here are few more of the layouts of my album. I made sure to create a bit of separation between photos by either using a resting/journal card between them, or an interactive element to the layout.
Since I have accumulated a large number of photos through the years, I an taking advantage of the Sn@p Photo Flips to add them in my album. I just love all the 3x4 Elements of the collection, they blend so nicely with all the papers and embellishments.
I have created a small walk through video of my album (it is still a work in progress, but I am loving it!)
I hope this inspires you to check the new HOMEGROWN collection from Simple Stories. You are going to love all the beautiful and fun designs, and maybe you, too, might create a Farm Memories album.
XO
