Hello, Simple Stories friends! It’s Jen today with another layout using the adorable Cider & Donuts collection, which I absolutely love.
In July, we became first-time grandparents and are thrilled beyond words. While I love spending time with our granddaughter, I equally love watching my husband interact and bond with her. It is so sweet.
Let’s take a look at the 12x12 project featuring Dan and Lena.
To begin this layout, I chose the Color Vibe Cardstock – Aspen/White Notebook for the background. Next, I mixed water with Distress Oxide Ink in Fossilized Amber ink and smooshed it onto the page as well along with adding splatters. I focused most of the ink in the upper right corner since I knew that was where the photo would be placed.
The next step was to cut the Many Thanks patterned paper into strips that were only as tall as the words. After cutting several pieces, I adhered them at an angle in the top right and lower left corners alternating the sides of paper as I went. After the glue dried on the paper strips, I folded the top edge of each upward to give the project more texture. I then added the photo, which is backed with patterned paper and glassine paper.
Once the photo was in place, I added florals to the corners of the photo, which I adhered with foam tape. I followed that with the "hello there, pumpkin" title that I built using Sentiment Bits. Below the title I layered rub ons just to add a bit more texture and color.
To complete the layout, I added enamel dots throughout and a few leaves, which give color and weight to the lower part of the layout.
I love the Cider & Donuts collection and wanted to show that it can be used for many types of projects that are not necessarily fall themed. The possibilities are endless!
