Hello Simple Stories friends! It’s Jen today with a layout created with the Winter Cottage collection, which is absolutely adorable.
What I love most about this collection is that it can be used for holiday or winter projects. For this layout, I chose a picture of my youngest daughter that was taken on a snow day from school in 2016.
When stumped for ideas on projects, I love using circle or grid formats as a go-to method to spark my creativity. Once I had decided on using a circle as the main focus of the layout, I began cutting snowflakes with a Simple Stories cut file from the Silhouette Design Store (310106). While the Silhouette was working, I stamped snowflakes in circle pattern where I knew I would be placing the cut files.
Once I had cut several of the snowflakes from patterned paper, I began layering them on top of the stamped images. Not all of the stamps are visible, rather they peek out from behind the cut files giving an added layer of dimension to the project.
After backing my photo with vellum, I attached it to the right side of the layout using foam squares to lift it above the snowflakes. Next, I began embellishing using chipboard and foam sticker elements along with several die cuts.
The gold elements in Winter Cottage add the perfect amount of “bling” and I used these for the title along with bits placed around the snowflakes.
I am loving the winter vibe of the project and cannot wait to create again with this collection.
