Hello crafty friends, Gloria Parra here with a new summer layout to share! I live in a very hot and tropical city and love spending afternoons by the pool watching my daughters enjoy the day. My oldest daughter loves to go to the pool in style and is always wearing bows and sunglasses that match her pool outfit, LOL! The Boho Sunshine collection was perfect to document her personality and this gorgeous photo of her by the pool.
For this layout I had the idea of creating a big sunburst with a photo of her in the center and rays coming out of it. She truly is our ray of sunshine, and that’s what I wanted to convey with this layout.
I started using the sun paper from the Boho Sunshine (element sheet) collection as the base of my layout. I then cut a color vibe warm white cardstock at 11 1/4 x 11 1/4. My photo is printed at 4x4 and I cut 3 different patterned papers 1/4 inch bigger each time. All the patterned papers that I used for my sunburst are from the 6x8 paper pad. I love using those papers since the print in them are smaller than the 12x12.
I then proceeded to choose different pattered papers to create my rays, varying the sizes a little, I also distressed them to create a little texture on my sunburst. My rays were feeling a little empty, so I decided to add some hand stitching to my sunburst, creating some lines that varied in size and mimicked the rays of sunshine.
I then proceeded to create two embellishment clusters in a diagonal line across my sunshine. For the clusters I used journaling bits, some floral bits and a couple ephemera from the bits and pieces pack.
I finished embellishing my layout with some chipboard and foam flowers as well as some deco brads that I used as centers of my bigger flowers.
I love the end result of this layout; I especially like how the photo is the center stage and all the little elements help to tell the story about my little ray of sunshine. Hope you guys feel inspired in some way and are eager to create with this stunning and oh so fun collection, it is definitely one of my all-time favorites!!!
