Hi crafty friends! Amber Mitchell here on the Simple Stories blog today to share with a cute mini album I created using the 12 x 12 Collection Kit from the Simple Vintage: Cottage Fields collection. I love the sweet spring vibes from this collection; the pinks and yellows are so pretty and so happy!
The base of this mini album is made from a 7 x 8-inch sheet of acetate. If you don't have acetate, you can easily recreate this album with just patterned paper or cardstock. I scored this sheet on the 8-inch side at 1.5, 2.5, 4.75, and 5.75 inches. I carefully creased along the score lines and then folded the template into the base of the album, with the thinner, front flap on the right-hand side.
I matted the covers with patterned paper from the collection kit. For the front cover, I used the plaid patterned “Embrace Each Day” paper and for the bottom cover I used the “Sweet Life” paper. To mat the covers on the inside of the album, I used the yellow side from the paper “Live For Today”.
To embellish the cover, I created paper flowers using my Cricut machine and cut files. I cut these from the “Live For Today” and the “Simple Things” patterned papers. I used some Decorative Brads from the Simple Vintage: Farmhouse Garden collection for the centers of the flowers.
To create the pages for this album, I used the “2x2 Elements” patterned paper. I trimmed this paper down into groups of two squares and folded them in half down the middle. I did this until I had 12 groups. or pages.
To bind the pages to the album, I used white elastic thread. I tied four strings of this to the left-hand spine of the base, and then slid all 12 of my pages onto them, in a column of three.
When it came to embellishing this album, I used a mix of images and sentiments from the Cardstock Stickers that are included in the 12 x 12 Collection Kit. To create a bit of dimension, I popped a few of these stickers up on some foam tape and layered them amidst others.
On the cover I added a yellow butterfly sticker and a few ticket stickers to create a simple title.
To finish this mini off, I added a dangle of paper tassels and charms from my stash in coordinating colors to the collection.
I love how simple and easy this album was to create. It came together in just one day and can hold up to twenty-four 2 x 2-inch photos. I can’t wait to fill it up with memories this coming spring!
