Hey Simple Stories fans and friends! It’s Cheryl here on the blog today with this fun gumball machine tag mini album (what a long description) using the incredible new Heart Eyes collection.
When I first saw this collection, I had heart eyes (see what I did there!!). It’s so fun and colorful and makes me super excited to work on this year’s Valentine’s projects.
One of the chipboard stickers is a gumball machine and when I saw it, I knew I had to turn this into some kind of gumball inspired mini album. I used a simple photo I found online and cut out the shape with a digital cutting machine. I picked the papers I wanted to use and started cutting.
I have layered two pieces on top of each other for extra stability and added machine stitching around the edges with hot pink thread to add a touch of texture and also make the shape stand out more. A light pink binder ring is holding all pages/tags together.
The front cover is the most decorated page as I wanted it to stand out and it just looks so colorful on my shelf. I have decorated each page with stickers, foam stickers, chipboard stickers and ephemera pieces. I’ve also sprinkled enamel dots throughout my album for extra texture and detail. There is still plenty of space for photos and/or journalling.
To finish my project, I created a dangle charm using the adhesive brads from the collection. I used a headpin and sandwiched it between the two sticky foam pads that are on the back of the brads, added a loop to the other end and that made the perfect little custom charm! I’ve also added a couple of pink beads from my own stash to a gold chain and attached it to the binder ring.
It’s such a fun collection designed by Kelly Bangs and I have absolutely loved creating with it. If you want to see how I have put the front cover together then check out my Instagram Reel @cherylguerreiro.
I hope this project is giving you heart eyes and that it inspired you to create something colorful and fun! :)
