Hey crafty people,
Halloween is just around the corner, and I've got a super fun and colorful layout to share with you today! I used the adorable Say Cheese Mouse Halloween collection from Simple Stories, and let me tell you, this collection is just too cute! I absolutely love the bright colors, the fun patterns and, of course, all those adorable little vintage Halloween characters. So, let's have a look at how this page came together!

For this layout, I decided to go big with some colorful stars! I started by choosing a few of my favorite patterned papers from the collection. I went for a mix of purple, orange, green and light blue, a lovely Halloween mix, making sure to combine different patterns to give the page a really fun and playful look.
I drew stars in different sizes, cut them out and added a hand-drawn black border around each one. I love adding these little scribbly borders to my projects! They make the shapes stand out and give everything a cute, handmade look.

Once I was happy with the placement of the stars, I adhered them using foam tape to give them some dimension. I arranged them diagonally across the page, leaving some space on the right for my photo.
Next, I grabbed some embroidery thread in colors that matched the papers. I pulled apart the threads and arranged them in messy little bundles underneath the stars. I didn't want them to look too neat, so I just let them curl and twist in different directions. I absolutely love the effect! They add so much texture and make the stars look even more playful.
For my photo, I chose this fun picture I took on the beach in Wilmington, NC, surrounded by lots of pumpkins. I matted it with a few layers of patterned paper, distressed the edges and added it to my layout.

Then came my favorite part: embellishing! I went through the collection and picked out some adorable Halloween characters. I added Mickey to one of the green stars and Minnie next to my photo. I also found some cute little bats, a witch's hat and a smiling pumpkin that were just perfect for decorating the other stars.
For my title, I chose the Happy Halloween piece and placed it right above my photo. I love how titles always give a perfect finishing touch to layouts.
To finish the page, I scattered lots of tiny colorful stars around the bigger ones. I also added a few gold paint splatters for that little bit of sparkle that I always love to include in my layouts.

And that's it! A super colorful, slightly messy and very happy Halloween page! I had so much fun playing with the embroidery thread and creating all those stars. It's such an easy way to add texture and dimension to a layout, and you can use this idea with pretty much any collection!
I hope you enjoyed this little Halloween project and that it inspires you to get creative with your own spooky memories.
Have a wonderful Halloween season, enjoy all the candy and happy scrapping!
See you next month!
Lisa
