Good morning, Simple Stories friends! Gloria Parra here today with a brand-new fall layout, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. I’m using the fabulous “Cider and Donuts” collection, which is perfect for capturing all the warmth and charm of the season. Who else is ready for cozy weather, crisp air, and the stunning beauty of orange leaves? Let’s dive into this fun, autumn-inspired project together!
For the base of my layout I used my all-time favorite cardstock, the color vibe cardstock in “blush”. I then cut a 1” frame from the multi colored plaid patterned paper. This technique is known as “gutting” the paper, which means cutting the inner part and saving it for another layout. I then added some machine stitching to the inner and outer border of the frame. I love the homemade feel that machine stitching adds to projects.
I proceeded to cut a piece of 3,5x10,5” of the dark teal grid patterned paper and created a little banner at one of the ends by cutting a line in the middle creating a banner at one end. I then added machine stitching to the borders and adhered it at 1 3/4” from the left border.
I then used the beautiful “Happy Fall” chipboard frame to add my two 3,5x5” photos. I must admit that I am addicted to the chipboard frames. I love how they make my photos the center of my layout. My idea for this layout was to create a diagonal visual line full of flowers and leaves. For this, I used a bunch of florals from the “Floral Bits” pack and tucked them under my frame as if they were peaking from under.
For my journaling, I used a beautiful mustard color tag from the “Journal Bits” and added some typed journaling to it. I also added a word sticker from the sticker sheet and a couple of deco brads; creating a little cluster under my photo. I added a natural color twine to my tag adding more warmth and dimension to my layout.
On the top left floral cluster, I added a little open book to create some balance with the tag and I layered a couple of foam florals stickers as well as chipboard pieces (camera and vines). I finished this cluster with some enamel dots.
For the bottom right cluster, I also added a couple of foam leaf stickers as well as a super cute little squirrel that reminds me of my little girl being all sweet and funny in this fall photoshoot. I sprinkled some enamel dots to finish my cluster.
I hope you like this fall themed layout and that you give this technique a try! If you are interested in seeing how this page came together, I invite you to watch the process video on my YouTube channel @gloriascraps.

Cozy hugs,
Gloria
