Good Times

Good Times
Hello dear Simple Stories friends! This is Gloria Parra here today with a new layout using the stunning new Simple Vintage Linen Market collection. This is such a beautiful and versatile collection, a must have for all your summer memories such as summer picnics, lemonade on the patio, days at the park and fireworks in the sky!

Today I decided to document our photos celebrating the 4th of July in the US for the first time! My two girls dreamt of celebrating and seeing the fireworks on such a special day! To start my layout, I used a white color vibe cardstock as my base and ripped the two layered borders from the “Celebrate the good times” patterned paper use on the top and the bottom of my layout. I ruffled the borders a little and then tucked a red paper under the border to create even more layers!

Under the borders I tucked two floral rub-ons, as if they were coming from under my layers. These rub-ons are a dream to work with, they transfer on like butter and create such a cool look! Ideal to create a vintage feeling on your layouts with no mess at all!

I then used a chipboard frame and placed it with my photos in the center of my layout. Under the photo frame I tucked some big ephemera pieces under the left photo, creating more layers and interest!

Then came the fun part…Creating PINWHEELS!!! Because what screams celebration and summer more than some colorful pinwheels right? To create them I cut 2” and 2,5” inch squares to have two different sizes of pinwheels. I drew an X from corner to corner on all the squares and then cut slits on all for lines leaving approximately 1/4 of an inch from the middle. I then glued 4 corners to the center of my square (using some liquid glue) and left 4 corners without adhering. I finished my pinwheels with some gorgeous Deco Brads that add the perfect finishing touch to them!

Using my pinwheels I created 3 embellishment clusters: one on each side of my photos and one at the top left corner. I tucked some floral pieces under the pinwheels to create a more layered look, adding more color and interest in every cluster.

I then used the Celebrate foam sticker as my title and added my journaling strips under it.

Finally, I finished my layout sprinkling around some foam critters such as bees and lady bugs! I love how festive, layered and fun this layout looks! Hope you guys like it and feel inspired to document your fun summer memories with this awesome collection! XOXO,

Gloria
