Life is full of moments, big and small, that we want to capture and treasure forever. The Here + There Collection from Simple Stories is perfect for documenting those special moments, whether they happen close to home or far away. Today, I’m sharing a fun and creative way to use this collection to preserve your travel memories.
The Here + There Collection features a variety of fun and colorful designs that are perfect for documenting your travel moments. Last April, my daughters and I went on a whirlwind trip to New York City and Washington, D.C. Little by little, I’ve been creating layouts that will live in a 12x12 album. On this project, I used the patterned papers to create an eye-catching background for photos taken from the plane as we began our flight home.
To begin, I cut the bottom half of the Travel Therapy patterned paper along the printed lines to create the triangle-shaped cutouts. Next, I stitched the paper in place atop the You Are Here patterned paper and folded the strips of paper upward to create texture.
Next, I used chipboard frames with my photos and adhered to the page. To make my journaling tag fit behind the photo on the right, I used foam tape to pop it off the page. I then folded washi tape in half and sewed it to the tag, making it is easy to pull it out from behind the picture.
Embellishments were next, and I chose to use a bit of everything from the collection. The flowers are always my favorite, so there are quite a few of them layered on and around the pictures.
To create the title, I used the foam sticker and chipboard sentiments beneath the photos. I love how the colors in the title match the background papers perfectly!
To finish the project, I clustered enamel dots throughout the layout.
