Hi friends, Andrea Lake here, and today I’m excited to share a fun little project created with the amazing Open Road collection from Simple Stories! This tag mini album may be small in size, but it is packed with special memories from our Memorial Day weekend trip to Fort Robinson State Park. I wanted to document the adventure in a compact format that would be easy to flip through and enjoy, so I created a tag album filled with 2½" x 3" photos, interactive elements, and lots of colorful details. To make it even more special, I tucked the album inside an adorable suitcase-shaped treat box gifted by my friend Becki. This cute box perfectly matches the travel theme of the collection.

This project is especially meaningful because it is a gift for my daughter as she prepares to move away to college this fall. I wanted to create something small enough for her to take along yet filled with memories she can revisit whenever she misses home. The Open Road collection was the perfect choice for this project with its cheerful colors, travel-inspired icons, maps, florals, butterflies, and uplifting sentiments. Each tag highlights a favorite moment from our trip, from scenic views and road trip selfies to sweet memories with our dog and fun family adventures along the way. I still need to go back and add my journaling.

I had so much fun mixing products throughout the album. I used the beautiful patterned papers as the foundation for each tag and added layers of Foam Stickers, Cardstock Stickers, Chipboard pieces, Floral Bits, Journal Bits, Decorative Brads, enamel dots, and labels to bring each page to life. Machine stitching around the edges adds texture and helps define each tag, while the layered embellishments create dimension without overwhelming the small format. I also incorporated journaling spots throughout the album so there is room to capture stories and details alongside the photos.

One of my favorite parts of this project is how the suitcase box turns the album into a keepsake. It not only protects the tags but also reinforces the travel theme and makes the entire gift feel extra special.

Projects like this remind me that some of the most meaningful memory keeping happens in the smallest formats. I hope this tag mini album inspires you to pull out the Open Road collection and create something special with your own travel memories. Whether you are documenting a family vacation, a weekend getaway, or a favorite road trip, this collection makes it so easy to tell your story in a creative and colorful way.
Love,
Andrea
