Fun in the Sun

Fun in the Sun

Hey Simple Stories friends & fans! It’s Cheryl here on the blog today with this fun summer project using Retro Summer.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for summer and day trips to the beach! I live about an hour away from my favourite seaside town Brighton and one thing I always bring is a large tote bag that holds all of my beach day essentials. So naturally I had to create a mini tote bag using this amazing summer collection.

I used my favourite paper from the collection for the outside of my tote bag and machine stitched sequins along the bottom of the “melted ice cream”. I also layered another lighter pink paper on the bottom of the bag for more interest and machine stitched everything using gold metallic thread for extra detail.

The mini album inside the tote bag will be perfect for those beach day memories. There is plenty of space on the back of each page to add photos! Because the front pages have all been decorated this will be the quickest mini album to fill, as all you need are photos! :) I have added machine stitching to every page for that extra texture and decorated each page with elements from the collection.

This could be a perfect little gift for a friend. The tote bag could also hold a present and the album can be gifted separately. The colours of Retro Summer are so bright and fun and they will definitely bring you in a summer mood, especially on a grey and rainy day (which are very common here in England…..).

I hope you’re all taking lots of pictures this summer to document your favourite moments and I hope this project inspired you to create something fun to keep your memories safe!
