Hello friends, it's @vickiscraps here and I couldn’t resist diving into the Spooky Things collection to document one of my favourite nights of last year — Halloween with friends in New Orleans! This layout is full of all the playful chills and thrills the season brings, with a mix of bold patterns, layered textures, and whimsical embellishments.
The star of the page is our group photo, dressed in our Halloween best, which I framed with a cascade of patterned paper strips from the 6x8 paper pad. I used rolled edges for a casual, layered look, stacking colours like mint green, orange, black-and-white polka dots, and a few pops of purple for that perfect eerie vibe. A few splashes of black ink tie it all together and give that slightly messy, spooky atmosphere.
For embellishments, I went all out! The “EEEEK!” banner stretches across the top of the photo, anchored by a dangling spider for just the right amount of creep factor. Around the photo, I tucked in chipboard houses, witches' hats, webs, and pumpkins — all straight from the Spooky Things Bits & Pieces, Chipboard and Foam pieces. The “Frightfully Delightful” sentiment couldn’t be more fitting, and the “Boo!” and “Spooky!” word pieces add pops of playful typography.
This layout was such a treat to make, and the Spooky Things collection made it so easy to capture the festive, lighthearted side of Halloween. Whether you’re documenting costume parties, pumpkin carving, or trick-or-treating, this collection has the perfect mix of cute and creepy to bring your memories to life.
Have you used the Spooky Things collection yet? I’d love to hear what kind of Halloween magic you’ve been creating! Vicki x
