We're so excited to welcome back Andrea Lake to our 2023 design team. We can't wait to share her work with you. Before we jump into that, we want you to get to know Andrea a little better.
Bio:
Hi Friends! My name is Andrea, and I am an Argentine-Venezuelan dreamer. I am a wife and a stepmom to my 15 year-old girl and my 11 Year-old boy. Our dog's name is Astro and he is our best friend. I work full time in the hospitality industry and I am the happiest when I am teaching and crafting. There's nothing better than sharing our stories in full color and with pretty embellishments.
Fun Facts:
1- I love soccer, baseball, and tennis. I love rewatching the best and most important matches of all tournaments (I've watched the World Cup Final match 4 times already) Go Argentina, Go 'Stros! and Go Rafa!!!, 2- I still have my favorite blanket from when I was 5 years old and I am hoping I can keep it forever (I sleep with it every night), 3- I cannot watch my videos or recorded classes later on. It feels weird to hear my voice 😱

Hi Friends!
Andrea with you today sharing a special project that could be the perfect Valentine’s project to share with friends and loved ones. I made a set of three mini albums using the gorgeous ‘Wildflower’ collection with the idea of gifting two of them to my friends and keeping the last one for myself (If I am being honest, I will be making a new set because I loved this one too much and I am not ready to separate these mini books just yet).
The three mini albums are the same size (4 x 4 ½ x 1 ½) and made in the same way but using different colors and decorating them tone on tone. The base of the books is made out of clear acetate that I covered on both sides using patterned papers from the collection.
I fussy cut the numbers 1, 2 and 3 from one of the papers and used them to label each book following the colors and decorated each cover using different embellishments, adding dimension and a chipboard word that would also match each color album. You can adapt this idea of creating separate mini books to almost anything, you can make one for each kid in the family, if you are going on vacation and visiting different cities or countries, each one of them can have their own book. The possibilities are endless.
The binding for these mini albums is really easy to create. Think of this as a Traveler’s Notebook binding where you punch a set of holes at the top and bottom of your spine and slide some elastic cord through it to hold your signatures or album pages. I made and decorated two mini signatures to add to each book. Again, all tone on tone. I also added machine stitching details to all the pages to create interest and of course, to add texture to the project.
I hope you enjoy the project and feel inspired to adapt it however you want and have fun making pretty things. The Wildflower collection is absolutely gorgeous and it was a dream to work with.
