Hello Simple Stories friends, Becki here, to share a layout with you that I created with the brand-new Acorn Lane collection. Fall is my very favorite season to scrapbook. I love the warm, bold colors and the beautiful images of falling leaves, flowers, and pumpkins! Of course, when the Acorn Lane collection landed on my doorstep, I was giddy!!! This is one of my all-time favorite fall collections. I couldn’t wait to jump in and start creating.
Last fall we had our family photos taken. I’ve been slowly printing and scrapbooking the photos. When I saw the Acorn Lane collection, I immediately thought of this photo and I knew it would be perfect to go with this gorgeous collection.
The first thing I did was choose a few of my favorite patterned papers. There are so many great ones to choose from! When I chose a few papers. I wanted to add an interesting shape to my background. I wanted something different than squares, rectangles or circles. A triangle was the first thing that came to mind. Even though the orange plaid paper isn’t exactly a triangle. It still has that pointed shape within the square background.
Because I wanted the orange plaid paper to stand out against the navy background, I only used one other patterned paper. The brown floral is so pretty! It made the perfect mat for my photo. There are a few distressed elements within the Acorn Lane collection. I wanted to make sure to add some distressing to make my layout more cohesive. I slightly distressed the edges of my photo mat.
The embellishing on this layout is simple with only a few flower die cuts and the cute little house die cut to accent the photo. Last but not least, I added a few strips of typed journaling. I am so happy with how this layout came together! I cannot wait to create more fall themed projects with the Acorn Lane collection!
