Hi Friends! Andrea with you today sharing a new project using the festive Make it Merry collection by Simple Stories. I used Lori Whitlock’s Christmas Countdown Book cut file to put together a fun advent calendar for next month. I will be treating myself to a tiny piece of candy every day all month until Christmas comes. One more reason to be excited about the Holidays.
I cut 2 chipboard pieces at 6 ¼ x 8” to create the front and back cover of the book and a 3x8” piece for the spine. I used different patterned papers from the collection to put together the structure of the box and for the 24 tiny box bases and tops from the cut file.
I glued all the boxes to the book base and embellish them using different products from the Make it Merry collection. The numbers can be found in the 6x8 sticker book and also as bits & pieces. The chipboard, foam, and puffy stickers were also perfect to add dimension and texture to the boxes. And let’s not forget the decorative brads. I used almost the entire set.
I decorated the cover of the book with a chipboard frame, foam, and puffy word stickers, as well as all of the flower stickers and die cuts I had left. You can find them in your sticker book, cardstock, and chipboard sticker sets. I added some enamel dots to finish the cover of the book. The big December foam sticker was the perfect size to add to the spine along with two big decorative brads. This book is making me really happy already.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope this project inspires you to start playing your favorite Holiday playlist, grab the Make it Merry collection by Simple Stories and start creating amazing festive projects.

hi Carol!! Thank you so much! I am so glad you liked it. The boxes are 1 1/2″ × 1 1/2" and 1" deep. The lids are made to fit and only 1/2" deep or a little less. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help :)

I’m completely in love with your advent project! It’s gorgeous and sweet! Can you please tell me the size of the small boxes? They’re darling! I don’t use cut files, but do have a WRMk box-making tool. Would love to make one of these for my niece and nephew! Thank you for sharing such an awe-mazing Calendar! I’d love to receive more details; email works, if you have time.
