It's Nathalie with you today to share my first Simple Stories project for this year featuring the beautiful Simple Vintage Junk Drawer collection. This collection is fresh with a touch of nostalgia, beautiful designs, and a soft but saturated color palette. I love the Simple Vintage collections and had the perfect photo for this. Let me show you today's project.
I loved the layered look that the papers in this collection feature. They make it so easy to get a project done with just a few touches, and that truly was the inspiration/starting point for this new layout.
The Stay Curious paper was my starting point, I truly loved the large cluster at the bottom right corner of the page, and wanted to showcase it in my photo, but was not happy with the photo sitting at the bottom of the page. My choice was to rotate the page 180 degrees and use a craft knife to separate parts of it from the page.
There are already so many layers in the cluster, so I just needed to continue the look of the cluster onto the photo. I simply started to pull pieces from the embellishments and the 6x8 paper pad to add extra layers on the right of the photo. I carefully tuck some of the pieces under the layers I cut from the paper so that it marries the two together. The rub-ons, this time, helped to add a bit of extra interest to the page without extra work or damaging the paper.
The placement for the title is pretty much determined by the design already on the page; however, I had to cover it as the letters would have read backwards. Once again, I played with a few embellishments to creatively camouflage the paper's design, then used the foam stickers to add a large title.
To finish the page, I placed a few butterflies along the page so that they tie all the parts of the page together. All it needs is journaling!
I love how this turned out, and how easy it was to create with just a few extra pieces added to the existing design on the paper. I cannot wait to see what you will create with the Simple Vintage Junk Drawer collection!
