Hi, Friends! Andrea here sharing my second project made with the Crafty Things collections by Simple Stories. This is my favorite collection so far this year, and I had to use it to document a very special meeting. This time I created a layout with lots of color, texture and dimension.
I’ve known Susan since 2019, virtually. I’ve worked with her since then every time I’ve had a layout published for SCT Magazine. She has always been absolutely amazing to work with, and when I knew her and her sister Beth were going to be in town for a special event, I made sure to stop by where they were to say hi and give them a huge hug. It was amazing to finally meet them in person. So now, let’s go back to the actual layout. I selected and printed my photos, my title, and then played with the actual design of the page.
To create the wavy semicircle portion, I cut a circle out of cardstock, then picked a couple of striped and colorful patterned papers to create the scalloped strips I ended up overlapping. You can also use a border punch for this step. I just wanted a fun uneven look. I used liquid glue to secure those strips and then ran the full piece through my sewing machine. I secured the piece to my background using foam adhesive and then started layering my photos, journaling piece, and the rest of the embellishment pieces.
The floral paint brush is my favorite element from this collection and I had to use it again in this project. I fussy cut this one from the 4x6 card from the 4x6 Elements patterned paper and layered a few floral ephemera pieces on top of it using foam squares. I added some fun touches with the rub-ons and a smaller chipboard paint brush to the left of the title. This layout is already displayed on my wall in my craft room. Getting to know my friends in person is one of my favorite things about crafting.
