FaBOOlous Coffin Album

FaBOOlous Coffin Album

Hi Simple Stories friends! It’s Cheryl here on the blog today with this fun Halloween project using FaBOOlous.

This collection features my favourite shade of soft pink and as soon as I saw this ghost paper, I knew I had to use it for the cover of a mini album. I decided to make a coffin shaped album using a hidden hinges technique.

I started by cutting a basic coffin shape out of chipboard and my favourite patterned papers from the collection. I have made the shape a little bit wider than usual, as I wanted as much space for photos/journalling as possible without ruining the shape I was originally going for.
I used the dusty rose ColorVibe cardstock to cover my two chipboard bases (one for the front and one for the back to give this album stability and make it stand up on its own). I then had to think about the number of pages I wanted to add without making this album too big and I ended up with 5 inserts.

To create “hidden hinges” you just need to score and fold your paper so you end up with a hinge to use to add your pages to. I also left a 0.25-inch gap between my pages, because I wanted to use dimensional stickers and wanted to make sure there’s plenty of space to do so. I used a smaller piece of chipboard for the spine and also covered it with the dusty rose ColorVibe card and then attached it to my front and back pieces of chipboard. Before I added the beautiful patterned papers I also added machine stitching using pastel pink thread for a little bit more texture on the album and pages.

I glued one page to the hinge and used another piece of paper on the back, so the hinge is basically hidden inside both layers of patterned paper - so clever, isn’t it?! I love how clean it makes albums look and how much space for additional embellishments there is. To finish the album, I have decorated some of the pages and sprinkled some of the beautiful enamel dots and adhesive brads throughout the album.

Are you more of a traditional Halloween colour crafter or do you like to step out the traditional colour scheme and come up with something different? You all know how much I love pink, so creating a pink coffin album with FaBOOlous was so much fun!!!
