Everyday Memories! by Jen McMurtrey

Hello Simple Stories friends! It’s Jen today with a layout created using the Hello Today collection, which is a stunner.

Often times, the photos I use on my projects are ones I have “taken” from my kids’ social media accounts. The way I see it, if it’s posted online it’s fair game. Such is the case with this one of my youngest daughter.

To create a unique background for my project I used Arrows Stencil with coordinating oxide inks. Working from left to right, I applied the inks in the same order as the striped paper that backs my photo and the project. After each of the colors was dry, I went back and splattered ink over the top of the stenciled arrows. I love the vibrant colors.

After adhering the photo with foam squares, I began embellishing using chipboard stickers, Bits & Pieces, and stickers.

As I went across the page, I added embellishments that were the same color as the stenciled arrows. You can’t go wrong with a rainbow!

To create the title, I used foam sticker sentiments and placed them just below the picture. Below that, I added a few of the fun saying stickers.

Last was a bit of black and white floral washi tape that matches those on the photo itself. Here’s one last look at the finished project.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you are inspired to record those fun photos taken by your kids. It definitely provides a different perspective.
