Ee-I-Ee-I-O! by Jen McMurtrey

Sometimes you just have to wait to document a story until you have the perfect supplies. Take today’s project for instance, this photo of my oldest daughter was taken almost 23 years ago! Can you believe that?! As soon as the new Simple Stories Homegrown Collection arrived on my doorstep, I knew I would use it with this picture.

I mean seriously, how amazing is that cow print?!

To begin, I cut ¼ inch off of each side of a piece of Color Vibe Warm White cardstock before adhering it to plaid patterned paper. When planning the layout, I knew with certainty that I would use the cow print paper; however, I also wanted to incorporate pieces of the brightly colored papers as well. To do this, I selected several patterned papers, cut them into strips, and created a banner along the middle of the page after machine stitching the cow print paper in place. Doing this was a great way to add pops of color and texture to the layout.

Next, I backed the photo with more of the same plaid patterned paper and placed it atop the left side of the layout. I love all of the die cuts and phrases in the Homegrown Collection and added a few of the Bits & Pieces, a sticker sentiment, and washi tape to the picture.

When working on the title, I struggled with what I wanted it to say and where it should be placed. In the end, I used foam stickers atop the banner so the cow print letters would not be lost on the layout. Next, I used a Journaling Bit to record the story and placed that beside the photo.

On the bottom half of the project, I used more of the Bits & Pieces, chipboard, and stickers to create a cute scene featuring flowers, the truck, and house. Doing this added a perfect bit of whimsy that really adds to look of the layout.

I am so glad to finally have this photo out of storage and on a project!

Thank you for stopping by today! Be sure to grab this adorable collection, which can be used for so many types of projects, and get those stories documented.
